Aquatic Plants

Nano cube maintenance: Trimming the plants in the tiny underwater garden

I never expected just how potent having mud from the wild under my substrate would be. The plants in my tank just keep growing.

Today I decided it was time to tidy things up so I can see the fish and shrimp better. Those cherry reds were getting lost in the weeds, and what’s the point in having celestial pearl danios if they’re hidden away amongst the frogbit roots?

Also, I wasn’t entirely happy with my background. I’d rescued some struggling echinodorus from another tank hoping it would fill in at the back but it just wasn’t taking. So I’m going to plant in some rotala rotundifolia instead.

I think with my RGB aquarium light and the excellent nutrients from the soil, it might do well. Everything else gets a tidy up, and I’m going to get rid of some duckweed as well. Here goes… a little timelapse video. Hope you find it relaxing.
