Maintenance time! Let’s clean the filter in the nanocube

Internal filter in the corner of a nano aquarium

Here’s a short that looks at how to clean out a nano filter, which might be useful for anyone new to aquariums and aquascaping.

A week or two ago, we trimmed the plants and did a bit of cleaning in the 22l nanocube. Since then, the filter has become a bit clogged, so it’s time for a little regular maintenance to keep the flow going in the system and to ensure the water stays healthy.

The filter in question is a Ciano CF40, so you’ll get a good look at that, in case you’re interested. It’s an internal filter that sits in the corner of the tank with a get tube. Usually, this filter contains a disposable pod filled with charcoal and ceramic media. I’ve taken that out as it can diminish the nutrients in the water which my anubias and floating plants (frogbit) rely on.

Here’s a link to the filter on Amazon UK, on the off chance you want one just like it. Unfortunately, it’s not available in the US.

Hopefully you’ll find this video useful. If you have any questions about the filter or about the tank in general, drop them in the comments and I’ll try my best to help.
