On day 10 of my jar aquascape experiment, I decided to add some wildlife to the jar.
However, at only 650ml, what can you keep safely and humanely in such a small environment. The lady at our local aquatics centre suggested a bumblebee horn snail – AKA a porcupine nerite snail. This short video looks at how to introduce a snail to a jar nanoscape.
If you can’t get a bumblebee horn snail, try a small ramshorn, or even little bladder or trumpet snails that sometimes come on plants when you buy them. Lots of people consider them pests but they can actually contribute to a healthy jar ecosystem.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
