Introducing… Real Aquarium Slow TV

Apologies for the length of time that has passed between posts. I’ve been receiving medical treatment which stopped me from making videos for a while. But… aquaSplainer is back. And I’ve got some fresh ideas. In fact, here’s one that I want to run by you.

Slow TV.

Some people find it relaxing to watch a fire burn, even if it’s on the screen of their smart TV. They might also watch a cab view video shot from a moving train going through the Alps – for hours on end. Again, it’s peaceful and life affirming. There’s also that famous reindeer ride shown on the BBC.

So, I got to thinking. I find it relaxing just sitting watching my large living room aquarium for hours at a time. Why not film a couple of hours of my fish and plants living in tranquility and share it on YouTube. Maybe throw in some placid ambient music to add to the chill?

I haven’t shot a full production yet. I want to find out what people think. The concept begins here with a 15-minute test video under the working title Real Aquarium Slow TV (an aquaSplainer production!)

The video has been posted on YouTube and you can watch it below. I’d love to know what you think. There are some known issues – like, how did I miss the fact that the shot is asymetric and the wooden stand appears towards the left. I’ll fix that when I make a proper video. However, as a concept, is this something you’d enjoy putting up on your big screen TV, or even your laptop, for an hour or two?

Any feedback would be gratefully received…
